When it comes to marketing, there are many different types of terms. This can get confusing since what you think you might know about a traditional term, probably has a very different meaning in the marketing world. Here are a couple of terms to get you started and will help boost your marketing knowledge and make sense of all the words and letters being thrown around.

CRM

We often hear about CRMs but what is it? CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management and it’s essentially analyzing and managing customer interactions and data in a system. There is CRM software, which is a tool to help sales reps, sales teams, and call centers effectively maintain relationships with customers and help respond to their needs. The whole goal of CRM is to make connections with customers and keep them happy as well.

Offer

You might think that this is a straightforward word, when in fact it’s far more complex. An offer is something that entices someone to complete an action. It is a tool to draw someone in. It may include a free trial of a service, an ebook, or a discount. The main goal of the offer is for the marketing team to receive information for potential leads, whether that’s an email address, phone number, or information about an individual. Something that can hopefully lead to a sale.

Workflow

Once someone becomes a lead, there are automated tools to further draw them in based on how they interact with your website and content. It might be an email sent to them or a CTA (Call To Action) that is personalized for them directly. The point of a workflow is to manage your leads in an effective way, to maximize your marketing efforts. In other words, workflows ensure that a lead becomes an opportunity.

There you have it! A few terms to get you started in the wonderful world of Marketing! The next time you hear some of these terms, you will have a better idea of what they are all about.
